Location: All classes are held in our modern, spacious kitchen at 28 Perthshire Road, #2 in Brighton, MA. Please go to Contact in the main menu to get the directions.

Payment Policy: As all of you know the cost of organic produce and dry goods has steadily increased over the past few years. We are trying to keep our class prices down to enable people to attend our events. By pre-paying for an event we are able to avoid over or under-shopping thus saving money all around. All of our classes are $5.00 less when prepaid. We ask that a check be sent to hold the reservation. Calling ahead of time is not paying ahead. The check should be received the day before class. If we have to cancel an event due to weather or low enrollment we will of course refund the payment or offer a credit. If you need to cancel we request 24 hour notice for a refund. We understand that certain situations may require cancelling. Thank you for your understanding and for your support over the years.

Registration & Cancellation: Please call to register in advance by calling 617-562-1110 or emailing us at: warrenkramer@verizon.net. We offer a reduced price if you register early vs. calling the day of the event or arriving at the door. This helps us plan in advance to make sure there are enough people attending to hold the event and to allow us to buy the correct volume of groceries. Class may be canceled 24 hours in advance if enrollment is low. Fees will be refunded in this instance.

The most common resolution people make in the beginning of the year is to be healthier. Why is it that so many people just can't do that? Warren will offer great inspiration and insight into how to finally make it happen this year.

Saturday Jan 16th– Fresh Start Program: Fundamentals of Whole Foods Cooking 10.00am-3.00pm
Lecture: An Energetic Approach to Healing.
This foundation program is great for people new to macrobiotics as well as those who wish to get a refresher on the essence of macrobiotic principles. Nutrition is one aspect of health. Macrobiotics focuses on an energetic look at food and health. Warren will give many examples of how this concept is applied with regards to health and healing. Lunch will be served after the cooking class followed by the lecture.

Tuesday, Jan 19th Cooking Class: Where's the Protein? 6:00-8:30pm
A question many people ask is regarding protein and a natural foods diet. "Am I getting enough?". This class is all about protein options eating macrobiotically and of course how to prepare them so they are delicious. Beans, tofu and tempeh are the focus.

Tuesday, Jan 26th Cooking Class: Warming Winter Cooking 6:00-8:30pm
One of our most popular seasonal classes, you will just love these satisfying warming dishes. Warren will discuss how to make the best adjustments to handle the cold weather. Don't miss this delicious class.

Thursday, Jan 28th Ethnic Dinner: Middle Eastern Night ! Lecture: Seeing your Health: Understanding Conditional Diagnosis. 6:00-8:30pm
Join us for a delicious Middle Eastern meal followed by a most informative lecture. Our condition is how we take care of ourself day to day. One component of creating health is what we eat and what we choose to not eat. The other component is how we live our life. This lecture focuses on this second area which has a profound influence on all aspects of our well-being.

Even though it is still cold out it is time to make adjustments for the warmer weather on the way. Subtle changes made 4-6weeks before the beginning of Spring enable us to adapt to the environment. This builds strong immunity and vitality. This is a popular foundations class.

Tuesday, March 2nd Cooking Class: Favorite Dishes from our Ethnic Nights. 6:00-8.30pm
Finally, your opportunity to learn how to make some of those yummy dishes you sampled during our ethnic dinners. We've chosen some of those dishes that people raved about.

Tuesday, March 16th Cooking Class: A Special "Hand's On" Class. 6:00-8.30pm
Nori rolls, rice balls and tempura/deep fry. Warren and assistants will guide you through making these dishes. Please bring a cutting board, apron, knife and sushi mat if you have one. Please also bring a container in case you wish to bring home your leftovers. Early registration is suggested for this popular fun class.

Thursday, March 18th Ethnic night: French Cuisine! Lecture: Spring Cleaning: MAking Necessary Adjustments for the Season 6:00-8:30pm
Fatim will lead the kitchen to create a wonderful French meal. This time of year is perfect to focus on the health of our liver and gallbladder and "cleaning" out for the change of season. Warren discusses spring detox.

Monday, March 29th MCONE Dinner/ Lecture: Using the Five Transformation Theory to Discharge past Baked flour and Sugar/Sweets 6:30-9.00pm 
When we stop eating a particular food the effects of it do not automatically go away. We need to do things to actively get them out of our body. Tonight is about this fascinating principle.

Lecture: Cooking For Life: The Art of Macrobiotic Cooking.
This foundation program is great for people new to macrobiotics as well as those who wish to get a refresher on the essence of macrobiotic principles. It is widely agreed upon that food has a tremendous impact on our health and ultimately our life. Cooking is something that either most people just don't do anymore or it is the five-minute meal in the microwave oven. At the same time, there are numerous misconceptions about cooking. A common one is that cooking destroys nutrition. The truth is that proper cooking enhances our ability to absorb the nutrition from our food. Warren will discuss the many dimensions to cooking, common mistakes people make in cooking, various cooking styles and their impact on nutrition and our well-being. You will gain a better understanding of why we call cooking an art form.

 

MAY 2010

Tuesday, May 4th Cooking Class: Transitional Summer Cooking. 6:00-8.30pm
Seasonal adjustments in our cooking enable us to adapt to the environment thus imrpoving our natural immunity. Warren will discuss cooking styles, seasonings and the ingredients we use to prepare for the warmer weather.

Monday, May 10th MCONE Dinner/ Lecture: "I'm simply too Pressured". How to balance a Yang (over-contracted) condition. 6:30-9.00pm 
As the pace of modern society has increased and people have more to do day to day, it has become quite common to develop an overly tight condition. This gets in the way of natural circulation and can lead to many problems. We'll look at how to return to a more balanced place. Don't miss this very important and practical talk.

Tuesday, May 25th Cooking Class: Applying Yin & Yang in the Kitchen. 6:00-8.30pm
This unique class will give you a sense of how we make subtle and large adjustments in our dishes to change the effect it has on our energy and balance. At the heart of mindful cooking are these principles.

Thursday, May 27th Ethnic night: Italian Cuisine! Lecture: Smart Heart Health. 6:00-8:30pm
In traditional chinese medicine, the heart and small intestine are paired and complementary organs, supporting each other. The heart is our rhythm keeper, the small intestine is vital for absorption. Let's look at how to nourish these organs.

It is widely understood that illness develops in an overly acidic condition. In fact, fatigue, the number one health complaint in modern society means that our blood is acidic. Alkalinity is key for a healthy, happy life and clear direction.

Back by popular demand, a class that focuses on yummy, healthy desserts suitable for the summer. We will also serve a light dinner with this class. A special treat!

Thursday, June 17th Ethnic night: Mexican Cuisine! Lecture: What do Yin & Yang have to do with me? 6:00-8:30pm  Please note, $5.00 extra due to fish.
The answer is everything. Warren will demystify this language and show how it can be applied to our everyday life. It is a valuable tool to help us navigate through life in a balanced way. 

Monday, June 21st MCONE Dinner/ Lecture: Good Food, Good Mood: The Relationship between our Emotions and the Health of our Organs. 6:30-9.00pm 
There is no separation between our physical and emotional health. the condition of our organs and our food choices greatly influence the type and quality of our emotions. We will study the nature of our organs and the emotions that relate to them. We'll look at how to nourish those organs.

Tuesday, July 6th Cooking Class: Terrific Tofu & Tempeh. 6:00-8.30pm
Tofu and tempeh are wonderful additions to a healthy diet. They are both high in protein, low in fat, quick to prepare and are so versatile. We will prepare a number of delicious dishes for you to sample.

Tuesday, July 13th Cooking Class: Favorite Dishes From Our Ethnic Nights! 6:00-8.30pm
Our ethnic night dinners have become our most popular event. Here is your opportunity to learn how to prepare some of your favorite dishes from those evenings. An evening not to be missed!

Thursday, July 15th Ethnic night: Spanish Night! Lecture: How does a Healthy person eat? 6:00-8:30pm
Join us for an amazing dinner from Spain that you won't forget. In tonight's lecture Warren will focus on how we adapt the macrobiotic way of eating in modern society. This includes how to eat out as well as incorporating those foods used less often in day to day cooking. 

Saturday, July 17th– SPECIAL: Advanced Applications of the Five Transformation Theory. 9.30am-3.30pm
The Five Transformations can be used as a powerful tool for healing. It is a further interpretation of Yin and Yang that can be applied in everyday life. This half-day workshop consists of 3 lectures, each building on the other. The focus is using this model for healing and creating dynamic health. Hands out will be provided and a delicious lunch will be served. Tea, refreshing beverages and light snacks will be served as well.  Fee: $100.00 if paid by July 9th. $125.00 thereafter.

Monday, July 19th MCONE Dinner/ Lecture: Strengthening the Spleen, Pancreas & Stomach. 6:30-9.00pm 
These 3 organs are considered the "Earth" element organs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They have a vital role in keeping our blood sugar stable and our immune system strong. We will look at food, remedies and lifestyle to nourish them.

Thursday, August 5th Dinner/Lecture: Drink Your Milk? The truth about Bone Health. 6:00-8.30pm
The US is one of the largest consumers of dairy products in the world but we also have one of the highest rates of osteoporosis. So where is the problem? Tonight we will uncover the real issue with bone problems in this country.

Tuesday, August 10th Cooking Class: Late Summer Cooking. 6:00-8.30pm
Early August is when we start to make adjustments for the Fall. These adjustments help us to adapt to the changing weather, thus building our immunity. We will discuss food choices, cooking styles and seasonings used to make balance this time of the year.

Thursday, August 19th Dinner/Lecture: Foods that Heal: the Power of Specific Foods. 6:00-8:30pm
Food is far more than just nutrition. Tonight we will look at many of the foods we use in macrobiotic cooking and discuss their unique healing qualities as well as their energetic nature.

These organs are paired and complementary and are very active in the Autumn. Issues with these organs often appear in the Fall. This evening we will study how to support these vital organs.

Tuesday, Sept. 14th Cooking Class: Delicious Dressing and Condiments. 6:00-8.30pm
Here is the class that many of you ahve requested. Quite often the difference between a mediocre meal and a fabulous one are the "extras". Sstisfaction with our meals is frequently determined by these additions. Warren will teach a variety of these and a full meal wil bea served.

Thursday, Sept. 16th Dinner/Lecture: Spiritual & Emotional Aspects of Healing. 6:00-8.30pm
True healing means a spiritual revolution, changing our view of life, moving on from the past, living today. Warren touches upon the key factors in personal healing, whether from a life threatening illness or simply personal growth as a human being. The qualities of a "healing personality" will be discussed. Don't miss this moving lecture.

Tonight we will serve some delicious Japanese cuisine. Using the Five transformations, Warren will show how our emotions relate to the condition of our organs. We will also study the nature of our emotions and how to stabilize them.
