In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are five important tastes: sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent. They each “tonify or nourish” specific organs.  Of all the tastes, the sweet flavor is most important.  As we move to the season that emphasizes this sweet taste let’s look at it’s significance.  The modern diet does not support the spleen, pancreas and stomach and good “quality” sweet is not understood.
